Is there a MixEffect for Android?

Short answer
No. MixEffect, the ATEM control app by Adam Tow, runs on Apple devices: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision. Its own compatibility page answers the Android question with “TL;DR: No.” On Android phones and tablets, ProSwitcher is an app that controls Blackmagic ATEM switchers over your local network. ProSwitcher is made by Sabaat and is not affiliated with MixEffect or with Blackmagic Design.

MixEffect: crews on iPhone, iPad and Mac
If the people switching use Apple devices, MixEffect is the more complete choice today. Beyond switching, keys, audio, SuperSource, streaming and recording, it controls HyperDecks, automates through OSC, Bitfocus Companion and Shortcuts, lets you build your own Switcher Pages, and works across more than one M/E.
ProSwitcher: crews on Android
If the person switching has an Android phone or tablet, ProSwitcher puts the controls a show needs in their hand: program and preview, the T-bar, keyers and picture-in-picture, SuperSource presets, Fairlight audio, streaming, recording and multiview. Switching is free, and a demo switcher opens every panel without an ATEM.
Mixed teams can use both at once. An ATEM accepts several control connections, so MixEffect on an iPad and ProSwitcher on an Android phone can run the same switcher and show the same state.

Coming from MixEffect on an iPad?
If you have run shows with MixEffect, much of ProSwitcher will feel familiar, and some things you rely on may not be there. Read both lists before you move a crew over.
What will feel familiar
- SuperSource presets that animate from one layout to the next, as MixEffect's do
- A panel per audio channel with fader, meters and solo, and on Fairlight switchers the 6-band EQ and dynamics
- DVE keys for picture-in-picture, with position presets and the flying key
- Streaming and recording controls, with ISO recording on ISO models
- A built-in switcher to practise on, and a one-time Pro purchase instead of a subscription
What is missing
- HyperDeck control and camera autofocus
- OSC, Companion, Shortcuts and Video Follows Audio
- Custom Switcher Pages: ProSwitcher's phone and tablet layouts are fixed
- M/E 2 and above: ProSwitcher controls M/E 1
- Sting transitions, and setting clips in the media players: ProSwitcher handles stills only
- Recording macros: ProSwitcher runs the macros on the switcher but does not record new ones
- Face ID lock and View Only Mode
- Languages other than English
- An iPhone, iPad or Mac version: iPhone and iPad are planned, with no date yet
Nothing carries over between the two apps. Macros are stored on the switcher, so ProSwitcher runs the same ones, but MixEffect's own settings, such as its SuperSource presets and Switcher Pages, stay in MixEffect, and an App Store purchase does not unlock anything on Google Play.

You do not need an ATEM to find out whether ProSwitcher suits you. MixEffect has its ATEM Simulator for the same job; ProSwitcher has a demo switcher.

Questions
Is MixEffect on Android?
No. MixEffect is made for Apple devices: it runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision, and its own documentation says there is no Android version. On an Android phone or tablet, you need an Android app that controls ATEM switchers, such as ProSwitcher.
Is there a MixEffect APK?
No official one. MixEffect is distributed through Apple's App Store, and its developer does not make an Android version. A website offering a “MixEffect APK” is not MixEffect's developer, and an APK from an unofficial download site can carry malware. Install Android apps from Google Play.
What is the Android alternative to MixEffect?
There is no Android version of MixEffect, so Android users choose a different app. ProSwitcher is one: an Android app by Sabaat that controls ATEM switchers from a phone or tablet, with free switching and a one-time Pro purchase. It is not affiliated with MixEffect, and it does not do everything MixEffect does: HyperDeck control, automation and custom layouts are not in ProSwitcher. Does ProSwitcher work on Windows?
No. ProSwitcher runs on Android phones and tablets only; there is no Windows or Mac version. On a Windows PC or a Mac, Blackmagic's free ATEM Software Control is the official way to control an ATEM switcher. MixEffect has a Mac version but no Windows version.
Is ProSwitcher on iPhone or iPad?
Not yet. ProSwitcher runs on Android phones and tablets today. iPhone and iPad versions are planned, but there is no release date and no App Store listing yet. To hear when it is out, email support@proswitcher.app.
